Pros

My recruiter Jackie Pham is attentive, gives me great feedback, and has my back if I need her to. The company has found me my best contracts to date continually. The compensation for my contracts have always been fair. I have never had to hunt someone down or beg to be paid like some other travel nurse agencies I have worked for in the past.

Cons

Cannot contribute to retirement savings until there for a year. Benefits options are not that great. Cannot use PTO until at the company for a year. Only operates inside of California.

Pros

Overall it's an opportunity to learn how to recruit, close deals, manage your own margin, and maintain relationships with candidates. There is potential to make a lot of money during busier seasons and if all your candidates work their assignments. The team is small, so everyone works closely with one another.

Cons

Since the team is small, you really have to do every bit of work from compliance to even calculating how much commission you are going to be making be making each month, working weekends just to get first day info for your candidates to start. Just feels like a start up environment even though they have been in the business for over a decade and the company has not grown at all. A large percentage of your time is dedicated to other issues that do not involve recruiting, like making sure your nurses are paid on time and if their online exams are completed. There are no tools the company provides for recruiters (no LinkedIn recruiter, Indeed Recruiter etc.). There's no benefits. Extremely low base salary. Most of your leads are provided by the manager or if you can find people on Facebook, referrals, or cold calls on people that have previously declined working with us. Management blames recruiters for not making more in sales when the market is slow. Instead of focusing on strategies to expand your candidate searches or workshops on how to improve, they just put you in the hot seat and remind you that you're doing poorly. The market is very difficult to stay afloat with the lack of tools they give new recruiters. Each recruiter that is still there has either 5+ years or experience or works more than 50 hours per week. The busy seasons during fall and winter cause lots of stress and during the rest of the year, more stress due to lack of needs for candidates. Overall, it's a tough gig to uphold and the company clearly does not value their employees which is reflected in the salary, lack of benefits, and lack of understanding when it comes to being solution focused and actually helping maintain a positive work environment.

HealthCare Pros Response
4y
As a company that strives to provide employees with a fun, casual, positive work environment, it is surprising and disappointing to learn when anyone has a negative experience at HealthCare Pros. For over 16 years, we have worked to become a leader in nurse staffing. Being a recruiter is a challenging job, especially when we are tirelessly doing our best to ensure that we go above and beyond to provide a level of service to our nurses that is second to none. We do expect our employees to remain ‘hands on’ with their nurses because the nurse/recruiter relationship is so important. The tools that we provide and the centralized nature of our lead generation techniques have been crafted over the years to not only elicit the best possible outcomes, but to also create a more efficient and effective management of the lead generation process. By choosing to centralize lead generation, we have the best opportunity to maintain a repeatable process and limit the amount of duplicate contacts for our nurses. Our proprietary database of over 35,000 nurses plus the social media outlets that we access add to the amount of qualified leads generated. Over the past 5 years, HealthCare Pros has seen tremendous growth and it is our intention to continue this positive trend by hiring, training and supporting our recruiting team. With any sales position, it is imperative to strive for continuous growth, and each of our team members is responsible and accountable for contributing to this goal. Our compensation is extremely advantageous for commission-driven individuals and when we compare it to market competitors, it is substantially higher than other companies in the nurse recruiting space. We recognize our employees for their contributions in a variety of ways. Group outings, holiday gatherings, Quarterly MVP recognition, work anniversary plaques and more. Our casual work environment is generally welcome and appreciated by those that choose to work here. It is our commitment to continue to learn and develop from this feedback and evolve into an even better organization – thank you.
