Pros

The problems we worked on were genuinely interesting. The benefits were great and we had a great discount to use the store

Cons

I had no support whatsoever from day one. I was brought on to help alleviate some of the workload for a certain, but could not even get the time of day from them to learn what they had been doing. This resulted in a lot of wasted hours of trial and error in trying to reconstruct their work. There was also a severe miscommunication in the job duties. I was brought on to take admin responsibilities with a certain business tool, but after two weeks on the job I had not even touched this business tool as there were other duties they had only briefly mentioned that they had made seem were secondary when I was interviewing. I had also worked on several projects for a senior manager, where I had gotten very little direction. It often felt like the manager did not know what they wanted, they just knew they did not want the work I produced. There was one project in particular where we spent two weeks on it only for the senior manager to produce something else completely, without letting the team know. This was particularly frustrating as we had dropped other projects to prioritize this one. However, one of the most frustrating things is the unnecessary red tape for such a small company. The workflow I followed was the following: 1. Get request for project from my manager 2. Work on request and show to my manager 3. Sends to stakeholders and then comes back with any feedback This was incredibly slow and tedious, and much of the feedback was lost in translation. I begged my manager to let me speak directly with stakeholders, but my requests were almost always ignored.

Pros

remote work that feels like you're in a room with adults. however, there are a few too many "thought leaders" in the over bloated exec team which make priorities and ownership confusing. they have an amazing competitive advantage with insurance partnerships, but it felt as if there were too many cooks in the kitchen at times which made work take longer than it needed to with far too many rounds of revisions/approvals.

Cons

empower individuals to truly own their lanes. snuff out people that are all talk and no action. learn from poor investments - create more narrow strategy and execute. certain teams and managers unfortunately can be/feel cliquey. some teams will assign blame to others/point the finger across the aisle vs. take accountability. can feel a little "style over substance" with flashy off sites, remote perks, strong HR presence when behind the scenes they are PE owned and will make layoffs and tough decisions when margins and profits aren't where they were projected to be.
