Pros

Great culture, work life balance and supportive leaders at all levels of the organizations. I have worked here for almost 9 years and during that time I have always had support to do what I do best at work while also supporting the needs of my family. Mental Health and awareness is supported with the hope that all team members have the support they need to deal with the challenges of life. We have gone through a fair bit of diversity over the last 5+ years but I feel like we have pulled together and are building in the right direction.

Cons

Generally speaking I feel like we are starting build some positive momentum. Coming out of COVID and making a change in strategy was difficult as it was for many companies. Reflecting on learnings and the last 2-3 years I would say the cons are that there is not a lot of growth opportunities. Because we are in the processes of still building out positive momentum and working with clients to align with the new direction and products our growth has not been very consistent which has resulted in a cutback on certain benefits and few career growth opportunities. I also feel like Health Catalyst gather's lots of good feedback from team members, but it can be very slow to see change and feedback accepted.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for your nearly nine years of dedication to our team. I’m truly grateful to hear that you have felt supported in both your work and personal life and that our culture of mental health awareness and work-life balance has positively impacted your experience. Team member engagement is at the core of our company strategy, and it’s encouraging to know that you see the momentum we are building together. I also appreciate your perspective on growth opportunities. While we continue to refine our strategy and strengthen our business, we remain committed to professional development and internal growth. Promotions are still considered as needed, with a strong bias toward promoting from within. In fact, I’m grateful that we’ve seen nearly 900 internal promotions over the past three and a half years. Your feedback reinforces the importance of continuing to create meaningful career pathways for our team members. As transparency is a key operating principle for us, I sincerely appreciate your thoughts on how we can improve communication around team member feedback. Your suggestion to summarize and share feedback during All Team Member Meetings—along with clear explanations of how leadership plans to act on it—is an important one. We will continue to explore ways to ensure that team members feel heard, valued, and informed about the decisions that shape our future. I am confident in the strength and trajectory of our company, and I am incredibly grateful for team members like you who contribute to our progress. Thank you again for your insights and for being an integral part of our journey. Best, Dan Burton

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
