Pros

Good benefits and compensation. Upper management is great at communicating with employees and willing to answer questions from anyone on any topic relevant to the business, compensation, or direction of the company. Though expectations are high, there is a strong focus on team member wellbeing and the company seems fairly flexible with needs of individual team members.

Cons

While various team responsibilities can fade into each other my sense is that most teams do not work closely together. Each team is a bit siloed and sometimes unsure where their responsibility actually lies in the fringes. Frequent re-organization of teams and responsibilities has only compounded this sense. Changes made in the past couple of years to 401k (initially because of impacts of Covid) are not great.

Thank you for your review and feedback, and for choosing to join Health Catalyst 1-2 years ago! Grateful to hear of the positives of your experience, and we'll keep working on breaking down those silos and providing more stability and time between reorganizations. Also glad to be bumping up the 401(k) match in July, along with the base salary increases that were able to be included in the 2022 operating plan, while also achieving profitability in our core business. Excited to keep working towards a bright future, with your help and contribution! Best, Dan

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
