Pros

Flexibility and meaningful work. Leaders care about team members, clients, and doing a good job. The people are great - care about their work and each other.

Cons

The benefits have always been the #1 thing keeping me at Health Catalyst. They still are, but they are changing. 401k match has recently been reduced, . At the same time, they are adding some great new benefits like free access to mental health counseling and continue to offer ownership in the company. Over the last year, my job has become more stressful, but leadership has been receptive to feedback and changes.

Health Catalyst Response
5y
I appreciate your review and feedback, and feel very grateful to you as a long-time leader at Health Catalyst and in Minneapolis, supporting one of our largest and most critical client relationships. I also feel deep gratitude to you and your colleagues in Minneapolis for your incredibly hard work in supporting the COVID response. This has been very heavy, and I hope we can provide you with opportunities to recharge, to rest, to recuperate, including with clear PTO opportunity and also with greater clarity around expectations for workload. We'll strive to improve benefits as soon as we can, as the company's growth and financial success enables this. This is consistent with our deep belief that team members are at the center of our flywheel and are the source of all our growth and success as a company. Thank you again for all you've contributed these past 5+ years! Best, Dan

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
