Pros

I have worked for Health Catalyst for less than a year, but have felt more valued as an actual person from leadership and not just an employee, than I ever have my 27 yrs at my previous employer. I personally feel my contributions and ideas for the company are valued. The leadership appears transparent, great communication on key issues affecting the employees, a wealth of resources to learn more about the company in general-not just your own specific area, phenomenal benefits, no micro-managing of employees, & great collaboration within departments. The company is top notch on the most recent and wanted innovations for healthcare. Again, just cannot say enough superb comments to portray how wonderful it is to work for Health Catalyst.

Cons

My only worry is that with all rapid innovations and efficiencies made to save time and money, that there may not be enough areas to re-purpose nurses who have no IT experience to other jobs within Health Catalyst.

Thank you for this review and feedback, and for your kind and encouraging words. They are meaningful and appreciated. And thank you for the feedback regarding us having an opportunity to do a better job of communicating opportunities for clinicians who may be doing abstraction work now, but if we realize efficiencies, could be affected by certain jobs being no longer financially sustainable. First I would share that we're excited to see our clinical improvement work with clients starting to ramp back up as our clients have more time and space to think about these important workstreams in a post-COVID-crisis environment. This clinical improvement work will represent a really positive opportunity for team members with clinical training and experience to help us grow and fulfill more improvement work. This will be a major focus in 2021, and our strong hope is to retain as many of our team members as we possibly can, at Health Catalyst, this year in particular as we continue still face unique pandemic-related challenges. We've tried to share this objective as part of our all team member discussions, in enabling our team members to continue with us through the pandemic, even if it requires some shared sacrifice to preserve team members' positions. Thank you for your commitment to the company and its mission, and happy holidays! Best, Dan

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I appreciate the thoughtful recognition of our collaborative culture and the meaningful work the team does together. How we work together matters just as much as what we do. Our operating principles and cultural attributes remain foundational. To address your concerns about processes and roles, as the organization evolves, we’re prioritizing clarity in these areas to better support teams. There’s real momentum building right now, and the work ahead is meaningful. I’m grateful for you and the role you play here, and I’m excited about what we’re building together.

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
