Pros

The Leadership team at Health Catalyst has been patient, reassuring and compassionate during the pandemic. They made difficult decisions and were able to maintain jobs for their employees all while using the platform to help healthcare systems take care of patients. I am proud to be part of this amazing team who hasn't lost sight of their values even while expanding the company and services.

Cons

While I appreciate the efficiency work being done and realize the necessity, the communication style of "wins" equating to reduction in costs and FTEs to do the work can make it appear that we are at risk of losing our jobs. It's not good for morale to be constantly concerned that you are working yourself out of a job.

Health Catalyst Response

Thank you for your review and feedback, I really appreciate it, and it is great to be your colleague now for a full year -- sorry for the delay in my response to your review! Thank you also for the feedback regarding how we manage the sustainability of our business and how we communicate our position. While it is important for us to be financially sustainable, and while we strive to show respect to our teammates by being transparent, there is a balance there, and certainly our goal and objective is to enable our team members to each have a very positive, long-term career experience at Health Catalyst. And while we have to earn the right to continue forward as a company and in every individual position, that is certainly our plan and our goal for every position. Thank you again for your feedback, and happy holidays! Best, Dan

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
