Pros

I have been reflective lately about the amazing place that Health Catalyst is to work. There are many things that come to mind but lately, I am appreciating the chance to be part of a big vision. Some people go to work to build things or sell services but few are able to say they are transforming an entire industry. Now we aren't there yet, but that is the vision and the potential and we are engaged daily in figuring out how to FIX healthcare, to make it more affordable and effective and that is motivating

Cons

The only thing that comes to mind as a challenge to the vision is whether our runway will change. Will competitors intervene, will customers not invest in us, or will the current political climate turn into a chaotic four years of change? Those are risks but without being able to control each of them, we are doing what I think are the right things to succeed.

I agree that it is fantastic to be a part of an organization that has a chance to make a real difference in transforming healthcare for the better. I also agree with your assessment that many of the factors important to our future success are still fluid and unknown. This is risk associated with a company at our stage. I think we are doing our best to focus our efforts to mitigate our risk around these items, and know that we can be successful as we work together. Thanks for your thoughts!

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
