Pros
So many nonprofits use the fact that their work is meaningful to excuse demoralizing working conditions, poor leadership and paltry compensation. HCFA does the opposite. The staff is intensely hard-working and mission driven, but management places a premium on investing time and monetary resources in staff to the greatest extent possible, all while cultivating a healthy, collaborative and balanced workplace culture. A lot of places claim that their staff is "like a family" - and it's almost never true. HCFA is a rare place where it is.
Cons
The nature of the work can be chaotic and challenging, but this primarily reflects on the field in which HCFA works rather than a shortcoming of the organization itself.
