Pros

The things that I enjoyed the most during my tenure at Harris Teeter were my colleagues (co-managers and other department leads) and my front end crew. Also, the opportunity to assist people was rewarding.

Cons

Store management was abusive at the particular store to which I was assigned, although I know this is not the case throughout the entire system. There are many fine Store Managers at Harris Teeter & I am privileged to know several of them. The hours and schedule border are very difficult -- often managers are asked to close one evening, open the next morning and fill in on overnight shifts at random. Eventually, this takes its toll on your mental and physical well-being. In addition, his expectation was applied consistently to all department leads at my store. There was also considerable favoritism and inconsistency in how people are disciplined. Some are "written up" for minor issues, while Store Management "looks the other way" when their favorites
