Pros

The best way to map the pros of Harness is to explain why this is an incredible opportunity from the perspective of team, product, and market opportunity. The caliber of the team is top notch from the CEO to senior staff, engineers, marketing and sales. When you ask yourself the question of “how well will this group of people execute against the opportunity in front of them?” the answer is very well. The individuals on this team have a track record of successful execution, and in some cases historic execution, whether it be from Google, Apple, or AppDynamics. We all know finding good players isn’t easy. Attracting them to your company is even harder. Luckily talented people attract talented people. When you start with a known entity like Jyoti Bansal and a gifted CTO in Rishi Singh the network effect is powerful. The product is stellar. It’s easy to use, feature rich and solves a complicated problem in an intuitive manner. The proof is in the transformative power our customers have been able to glean in the short time with Harness. The typical scenario of solving this problem involves a 1-year timeline calling for multiple engineers to build an expensive, unscalable and short-lived solution. Customers using Harness solve this problem with a pre-built SaaS platform that fits their current processes and toolsets. It’s the difference between a packet of ramen and a 5-star restaurant. As we all know the market opportunity is the most important, specifically product market fit. I’ll disclose that the early sales team had over 200 prospect meetings in their first 3 months. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a sales team being told to slow down on new meetings because the rest of the company cannot keep up. The demand has been insatiable. To put the product demand into perspective, all of these meetings were generated outbound while in stealth with a substantial amount of customer references. The messaging, how Harness in solving this problem and most importantly the product itself has resonated with the market tremendously.

Cons

Being that Harness in an early startup with large ambitions, the challenges of working here are clear. There is no free lunch (well actually there is but I think you understand what I mean). Everyone is expected to pull their weight and go above and beyond to support their team members and exceed customer expectations. At times you may have to go outside of your title and scrap in order to get the job done. If you are not a hustler and a self-starter Harness is not for you.

Pros

It’s a paycheck. Good brand recognition.

Cons

Terrible culture. People fail to plan, then expect everybody else to scramble and spend their nights and weekends reacting to demands within ridiculous timelines. Nothing that you’re doing is so important that it’s worth constantly burning everyone out.
