Engaged employer

Coworkers are nice, some procedures seem inefficient or could be done in better ways though - Logistics Associate Harbor Freight Tools Employee Review

Pros

Raise policy is better than any other employer I've seen. You earn a percentage on top of the base wage. The raise affects that extra percentage, so you don't lose your previous increases when the minimum wage increases. Paid time off is plentiful. Coworkers are all very helpful to each other and friendly.

Cons

Hours are all over the place. One week you might get 30, the next you might be lucky to get 4 hours. On weeks you do get good hours, shifts can sometimes be scheduled without enough time in between them to get proper rest. Trucks are now processed during the hottest part of the day here (can reach 110+ temperature outside, trailer is typically hotter). Stockroom is too small for the amount of product received. Product can end up in front of stockroom shelves on the floor due to lack of space at times, which can be a potential safety hazard. Stuff like price changes and planograms seem like a lot of time is wasted on unnecessary changes. Most price changes aren't actual changes, just swapping color and text on the labels. Planogram guides seem to not be proofread well before they're posted for stores to set. Errors range from minor measurement issues to product overlapping in the pictures in ways that it can't physically fit in the space as shown. Logistics was told more incentives to earn more are coming a while back, and nothing has happened. We still only occasionally end up on registers, so don't have the same amount of opportunities to earn spiffs as sales associates.

Pros

Great benefits, fast paced environment, good teamwork. I liked the hours, you get an education about tools, whether from your coworkers or the customers. And speaking of the customers, they were on the better side for retail. Most are down to earth and easy to converse with.

Cons

Supply chain issues, many parts would never be replenished, despite being featured, advertised, and on display. That would often lead to tensions with customers. Aggressive time constraints on tasks. Sidewalk sales, holidays, and also coincidentally inclement weather days, can be quite busy and therefore stressful. Especially if there's call outs, but if you have a good management team, you'll have good staff that will want to work for them.
