Pros

The Pros depend on where you are at. For the most part the corporate office is a great place to be. One owners always stops by to share a laugh and say hi. We as a team have figured out how to work among ourselves and not get on anybody's radar. I really enjoy the employees I get to work with at the office and the ones at the branches. They are some hard working people who want to do there fair share.

Cons

I have never been so embarrassed for an employee as when I read an email from his boss. The email said Effectively immediately _________ is no longer employed at NB Handy!. That was it, no thank you, no nothing except an exclamation mark at the end of his email. The guy that is no longer employed did a great job and was given an award for the great job he did for NB Handy. He was owed more that that sentence as a company wide email. We are supposed to be the preferred choice of our employees. You have a hard time convincing me of that at this moment. This is completely unacceptable and should not be how you treat good hard working dedicated people. You don't treat good people this way. I don't care whether you liked them or not. If they did their job and did it right which we know this person did you owe them better. You don't have a clue what it means to be the preferred employer if you treat your people this way.

Easy going work place if you do your job. Co-workers were great.

Cons

Insurance high like everywhere. Says promotes within but actions reflect other wise.

Thanks for your feedback and years of service with us! We are truly fortunate to have so many great people working at Handy Distribution. When it comes to keeping benefit costs low, we work closely with a benefits consultant who reviews market data each year to ensure we offer the most competitive rates. We also offer two healthcare plan options, one of which is a Consumer Driven Healthcare Plan (CDHP). This plan design is a little different from our Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan and requires enrollment in a Health Savings Account (HSA), but it has lower premiums. In addition, we offer a wellness program where employees can receive a credit toward their healthcare premiums, providing preventive care services or activities are completed. Regarding advancement and promotional opportunities, this if often very competitive but we do our best to allow for upward mobility to all employees through succession planning or career pathing. Trust & Integrity is one of our key core values we adhere to. We lead with doing what’s right with honesty and transparency.

* Inconsistent and arbitrary work-from-home policies can be seen as unfair * Tendency to favor younger employees' demands, which can be frustrating for tenured colleagues * Fast-paced growth requires adaptability, which may not suit everyone
