Pros
Decent pay. Mostly good people. Okay hours.
Cons
Favoritism is the key word here. Favoritism towards veterans, favoritism towards people paying union dues. Favoritism towards certain employees/departments. Everybody's boss has a boss, who has a boss, who has a boss. There are too many people telling other people what to do here, in every department. If you're a union employee, you're generally safe from the nonsense, but if you're admin, you need to be on your toes. Admin positions/titles are constantly being changed/created. If you're admin, you can lose your job at the drop of a hat, but if you're union, you can fall asleep at your desk and still have a job. Literally. I've seen it happen to a couple people in my time here. Sometimes to the same person. If you fall under the union umbrella, you can use them to your benefit if you find yourself in a situation that would normally get you fired anywhere else. That is, of course, you decide to pay them an additional fee from your paycheck. I hear they can/will choose not to represent you in your time of need if you aren't one of the employees that pay extra. Also, moving up in the company is not tailored for everyone. Once an opening becomes available, you better believe they already have somebody in mind for that position.
