Pros

The salaries and time off packages are good

Cons

Everything about this place is very rough. They prioritize their image as a “black-run organization” over experience and expertise. Meaning, they employ black staff as managers and other superiors for image purposes but they truly have no clue what they are doing. The environment is horrendous. Your mental health will take a serious toll. They don’t value/respect any employment standards, workplace safety, or basic human rights. They’re not even registered with WSIB. Do NOT work here.

Pros

The clients are amazing and some of the staff are great

Cons

The management are confusing and disorganized- often give contradictory instructions. Expectations are completely unreasonable and managers don't listen when you try to explain you're struggling- they just flip it back to you and how it's your fault. The staff are really catty, everyone is waiting for you to slip up so they can report you to the manager. Certain staff get preferential treatment. Some staff are straight up bullies and get away with it. Lots of racist staff members too. Barely any training on actual tasks of the job and no supervision. You'll only see the managers when there's negative feedback. Despite being hired to be a housing worker, settlement worker, social worker or whatever the majority of your time will be spent on event planning.

Pros

Nice staff, who all deserve more respect and more money. But majority leaves for their physical and mental well being

Cons

I should have listened to myself at the beginning with the flags. Told myself it was okay because it is great work experience. Work load is so heavy everyone works on their lunch breaks, at home or stays late. This population is more complicated and has a bigger need. Already taking lower than industry pay to help the good of the community. There is no lieu accommodations here though. Benefits arent much. Im happy to work extra if I get something out of it. The next big red flag is them claiming I have to pay for my benefits. And I have to retroactively pay for their mistakes. Their lack of communication is their biggest flaw. The lack of communication is everywhere. One day it will all get cleaned up there I hope. But when I started I commented on this and when I left I was still commenting on it. I have no doubt the clients notice it also.
