Is this your company?

A decent place to work if you're ok with no work life balance and being treated like crap. - Paralegal Hamilton, Miller & Birthisel Employee Review

Pros

The pay is good, but you have to ask yourself is it worth it with zero work-life balance.

Cons

I don't understand this firm. It's a minority firm which at first, I thought was admirable, but then I got to know the firm. They hire people that have little or no experience. There is only an hour or two of training, if any. The people that train - their "knowledge administrator" has no knowledge and is not an administrator. There is an very unequal distribution of work among paralegals/legal assistants. If you are loyal & work hard, instead of being rewarded, your given more work, to make up for the attorney favorites who suck up. I was 1 paralegal handling 45 cases, which is ridiculous. Most days I would receive at a minimum 150 emails - most of which required something to be done. Or it was one of the attorneys complaining something wasn't done. The attorneys that work there are also a lower caliber attorney. All they ever do is push emails and work off to someone else and always in a very negative manner. There was never any positivity. Everything was always negative. It is an extremely stressful place to work. Too much is expected from any one person. If you say something you are immediately blacklisted. The firm is a revolving door due to how poorly they treat the staff. they don't like OT, but you can't do the job without it.

Pros

Free bagels and donuts on Friday. Occasional lunch

Cons

NO support for support staff. Gossip and favoritism are rampant. You can be fired after almost a year because firm thinks "it's not a good fit." That's all. It's just not a good fit. Not, here are some issues we would like to discuss. Just goodbye and good luck. No positive feedback EVER. Way too many cases for one person to ever handle--maybe a robot can do it though. High turnover in this position. Attorneys will tell you how happy they are with your work and then tell management it's not working. There is NO WORK/LIFE BALANCE. Its just work, work, work some more. It is never enough. Their motto is you are only as good as your last mistake!
