Pros

The main positive aspects of working at Habitude were a few supportive and collaborative coworkers. However, don't expect them to be there long as the turnover rate is extremely high.

Cons

Habitude suffers from ineffective management and HR oversight, led by ownership that appears emotionally reactive and disconnected from daily operations. Promises made during recruitment were routinely broken, facilities deteriorated, and financial mismanagement was evident. The salon experienced extremely high turnover, inconsistent policy enforcement, and a culture of constant write-ups affecting nearly all staff. Compensation was significantly misrepresented; advertised pay was far from reality, and I personally witnessed 25-year veteran stylists earning only minimum wage plus tips. Any clientele built and retained at this location is unlikely to follow a stylist elsewhere, as the salon is primarily seen as a convenient location rather than a destination. The break room is disgusting, the facilities are outdated, the business model is outdated.

Pros

Large Aveda color room and Davines hair care products. Beautiful space with lots of windows. Great location. Bus stop right outside spa. My salon manager was awesome and loved working with her.

Cons

At first I was excited to go to work but after the first month the excitement wore off. While I did make commission it amounted to minimum wage plus tips. The tips were not that great because the company charges an additional ten percent service fee when the client goes to pay. Many stylist didn't like that I was at a higher experience level thus a higher commission rate. This created an uncomfortable working environment from the first day to my last day. The leveling system I found degrading and too competitive. The stylist were always calling out sick and there was a super high turnover rate. The worst part was the manipulation of your schedule and books along with favoritism that made it difficult to build a solid customer base. There is no parking for employees but you can park at the near by museum for a daily fee. I do not recommend parking in the back alley as many employees cars got broken into. Also the stylist at the highest levels get priority booking so be prepared for slow days and unreliable income. Sadly there was no continuing education unless you sell a certain amount in product.
