Pros
I worked at Harris, Wiltshire & Grannis as a Legal Assistant for two years before beginning law school. It was an exceptional workplace in many ways--collegiality, work substance, and relationships chief among them. As a legal assistant I worked directly with partners on compelling cases, doing the type of work that is rare for an employee at such a junior level. I always felt comfortable and encouraged to ask questions and dig into strategy, and I truly believe that this work experience contributed in a significant way to my law school success. I now practice at a much larger firm elsewhere in the country, and I still draw on my experiences at HWG and maintain relationships with former colleagues. I cannot overstate what an incredible place this is to start a legal career.
Cons
I did not experience anything I would characterize as a con.
