Pros

Incredibly easy to get a job here. If you show up for the interview you will probably get an offer. Fridays are casual and early leave days.

Cons

Everything. Since February of 2014, 15 people have been hired on and eventually left this company. There are usually only 12 or so people working here, so that's a huge turnover. During your interview, you will be informed it is entirely commission based, no salary, but before you get your first placement, you will get a bit of money to help out. This really depends on what the owners think of you, because in my time here, one person was making $200 a week, another $200 every two weeks, and another $200 a month. All of these people were recent college grads. I can understand different pay due to different backgrounds and skills, but this is a difference of $5 an hour and $1 an hour, neither of which anyone can live off of. Making a placement isn't likely; you are more likely to realize this job is awful and find yourself a new one before you make a placement. They'll tell you that, on average, an individual will make a placement a month and with this average and their fee structure for placements, would be putting someone near $80,000 per year. But this isn't the case because that average isn't backed by facts. A couple people got placements, but not enough for the average to be one a month per person because others weren't getting any placements at all. You will also be told in the interview that new recruiters will make their first placement within 3 months, but that is unlikely and I think only one (out of the 15) of the new hires in the last year actually did that. There's no training. You're brought in on the first day and told to read through some PDFs that were made in the early 2000s. Then it's up to you to figure it out from there. The other employees will help out, but they have their own leads and candidates to be taking care of, and that's understandable because 100% of their income relies on them. The applicant tracking system (called EZ Access) hasn't been supported since 2002. It's old, inefficient, and probably more trouble than it's worth. Trying to find useful information in it is difficult and takes up a majority of the day. Management will not upgrade this system and they stand by it being a good database. The atmosphere is toxic and morale is awful. Morning meetings consist of one person telling the whole office that they are losers and only winners will make placements. After that it's time to get on the phone and try to talk to people who don't want to hear from you, and sometimes will be downright mean. Recruiting is hard, and I knew that coming into this job, but IT recruiting is so saturated with companies like this one that it is extremely hard to make any money. There's no room to move up. You start at this level and stay there until you leave. If you are content with just recruiting your whole life, that's fine, but you won't end up with your own accounts (like they will promise in the interview) because they will probably be taken from you. You have to stay late Tuesdays, and you will probably end up being reprimanded for not staying late other days. Sometimes one of the owners will tell the office to go home early and then another manager will send out angry emails to the office for actually taking the rest of the day off. No benefits at all. Summary: Do not work here. You will regret it. If you absolutely can't find a job and you have some money saved up, then maybe take the job so that you aren't unemployed, but keep looking for something else.

Cons

Sometimes the freedom from micromanagement can take some getting used to. While we do have certain metrics of performance in place, we are not a quota-driven or "hard-management" environment. The true professional recruiter thrives in this environment where managers are not constantly looking over their shoulder or treating them as commodities.
