Pros

Management really emphasizes the family culture and do as much as possible to make you feel valued. Lots of little perks.

Cons

The work demands constant attention and lots of training for measly hourly pay.

Pros

HSC is a fun, family-oriented business dedicated to one of the noblest causes imaginable - saving the lives of children. The work environment is friendly and casual, and it's easy to stay there longer than you intended simply because you like the people. HSC allows for a good degree of flexibility in schedules, making it ideal for students and working parents. For a company that doesn't require degrees or prior experience from its employees, the perks and benefits they offer are not too shabby, including but not limited to annual company dinners and parties, bonuses, health insurance, 401K, conferences and retreats.

Cons

Career progression in HSC is limited for most employees. Middle management is the ceiling for the majority of us, as the highest positions are occupied by family members of the owner. This is beginning to change as the company grows, however - there are some new upper-middle management positions being created as the directors shift their focus to future expansion rather than facility management. Still, the skillsets that come in useful to HSC are narrow in range. Unless you're in business administration or simply passionate about swim instruction, you should plan for HSC to be no more than a nice stopover in your (unrelated) career trajectory.
