Pros

At HMS, the standards are high and the pace is fast. For bright, motivated individuals, the opportunities for growth are seemingly endless. Educating employees on everchanging insurance issues is a priority. The benefits package is very generous, as is the annual bonus for non-production staff. The office closes 45 minutes early on Fridays between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and fresh fruit is provided every Friday. The building is beautiful and well maintained. I have worked at HMS for 17 years. I knew nothing about insurance when I started. HMS gave me the tools and opportunities to build a successful career. I have worked very hard and have been rewarded with promotions, pay raises and overall career satisfaction.

Cons

The standards are high and the pace is fast. If you are not bright and motivated, you will likely get left behind. The culture at HMS is not the right fit for everyone. People who focus on the negatives, and would rather spend their day complaining than working hard to serve our customers, do not succeed here (IMO this is a Pro, not a Con, but that's just me). The production staff tend to make their own rules, which creates extra work/stress for the service teams (this seems to be the case at most agencies). Management does not always communicate effectively to individuals that they are underperforming, and therefore are not advancing as quickly as they would like.
