HITS triathlon and horse shows allow you to travel and meet different people, if you enjoy both of those things, you might be able to deal with the poor working conditions.

Tom, the CEO, does not care whatsoever about his employees. Most employees will give their 2 weeks, will be screamed at and told to leave that day. Many long term employees, especially within the horse shows, are bound to Tom, due to the fact that he loaned them money to purchase houses in the area, and they are stuck. He expects you to work 60+ hours a week as a salaried employee, and 14-18 hour days when on a triathlon. The possibility of raises are not common. Christmas bonuses tend to be about $500. Employees have a general hard-working attitude as that is all he will accept, but the undercurrent is everyone is trying to get out of there. He takes advantage of you. He doesn't appreciate or believe in teamwork, doesn't encourage growth, goes out of his way to avoid speaking with his employees. Annual reviews are a joke. Even proactive employees within the organization lose hope and leave. Many people continue to work there for years and years because there is not anywhere else to work in the area which pays a salary. Do not work here. He has a poor reputation in both the triathlon and horse show industry as a result of 20 years of treating both customers and employees poorly and therefore is not longer seen as a leader in either of those arenas, and is losing money as a result. Also, the organization favors men, who will get any opportunities there are, over women with better work ethics, education, and experience.
