Pros

I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a whole at HII. There were several days where I definitely dreaded working (mostly because of lack of sleep the night before). The work was easy but needed lots of attention to detail especially since my "mentor" was very strict and expected only the best. It annoyed me at first because i didn't think i needed to be amazing since i was just starting out. But i quickly realized it was only done to make me really good at what i was doing by the 2nd month. The group of professionals i worked with were very welcoming and understanding. The hours are amazing with the availability to flex out of work. With the pay your given you better be more encouraged to do excellent work. In fact it is disgusting to see how many people take advantage of all the flexibility. And make sure you take the shipyard operations course. It is well worth it! Pros: Hours/Overtime Flexibility Prestige Pay Benefits Skills Learned Difficult environment can strengthen your defenses

Cons

As a christian I found it difficult to maintain the Lord at the top of your priorities, yet even though it was difficult i feel that i did succeed in keeping the Lord above all. The language the professionals use is obviously harsh but it definitely gets to you if you used to talk that way and had made an effort to stop. The greed in every job aspect was clearly defined. There are so many ways to really slack off and still get paid well especially with overtime. Management will most likely own you a few times before the internship ends. Usually by telling you to do one thing and then yelling at you for doing it a couple weeks later. There is also a great desire to gossip about different group members or members of interacting groups Cons: Lots of temptations undeserved yelling lack of work boring work

Pros

Remote Work, Flex Schedule, Benefits are decent enough.

Cons

It is very much a boys club between management, leads, and HR. HR is there to protect the company, not you. The moment you have something crazy happen (and you will because most people in positions of power are old retired navy guys who cant even work a computer usually and would rather praddle on about "the good ole days") and you report it to HR, you immediately will be retaliated against, even when HR says you wont. Its tough to say how you wont when they immediately inform your supervisor. I also hate how they are an "inclusive" company, and yet I have been called more slurs and received more backlash for being LGBT when its not even being presented, I just want to log in, work, ask questions, log off.
