Pros

It was a laid-back, creative environment where you could work alongside like-minded individuals who were friendly. Work was interesting and everyone got a hands on approach, including interns. Internship was a great opportunity and can range anywhere from three months to a year and includes housing. Benefits were pretty good and it's good for experience.

Cons

Compensation was not reflected in value/work of employees. Work/life balance was not respected and deadlines were poorly managed. There are not many opportunities after a full-time offer except a new title that is created with a false impression of climbing the ladder. Not a sustainable workflow and leaves employees discouraged and frustrated. Frat boy culture, that gets old and uncomfortable real fast.

Pros

Great environment, fun co-workers, lots of freedom as an intern to work on real design issues. I was fully respected as a part of the team and had a great time working interdepartmentally with engineers. Housing for interns is provided, which definitely made the summer more fun because it was easy to make friends. Great small team of designers that really made me feel at home, and I was very sad to leave at the end of the summer.

Cons

Sometimes the management would move deadlines around in a seemingly unorganized manner, but this was also during a time when the CEO was directing the company from abroad with a substantial time difference. Hexbug's design language is not particularly refined or modern, which is fitting for toy design, but not my personal favorite.

Pros

- Pretty decent opportunity to get your foot in the door. - There are alot of fellow workers and acouple leaders who are honestly trying to make a positive change within Hexbug. - They REALLY try to pamper everyone to outway the cons.

Cons

- Fear driven work environment focused solely on financial gain. - Hexbug is very isolated from all towns of progressive significance so unless you like cornfields, broken down apartments, and trailer parks, AND you are "lucky" enough to survive through the Hunger Games styled internship program you'll have a 1 hr commute to work everyday. - Despite being a multimillion dollar company with a small design department, the fulltime pay for 99% of the designers is in the bottom 20% of the national average while top leadership has a 6 fig salary. - The intern program fuels EVERYTHING so production is cheaper and they can get rid of people whenever they want. - Disrespectful and power hungry leadership that is borderline abusive. -Racial tension is widely know for being swirled around and amped up from TOP leadership. -Lots of dishonesty and manipulation masked as "it's just business" which creates a very toxic environment that EVERYONE notices.
