Pros

I left my industry of 25 years to join this Silicon Valley startup and all early indicators are that I made the right decision. I've worked for 7 companies and the folks here are by far the most intelligent and down-to-earth of any team in my career. Everyone's committed to building something really special in the commercial real estate space.

Cons

It's a truly global team with folks on both coasts plus Singapore and London so it's not for the 9-5 crowd. Requires a blended work/life approach to be successful.

Pros

As an engineer it's sometimes hard to find a place that works on fun and challenging problems. HELIX is an amazing place for an engineer: Point Clouds, Computer Vision, Autoscaling Badassery, Sophisticated UI, Machine Learning, Engineering Best Practices. It feels like we're solving a problem that needs to be solved, we have a good opportunity of being one of the key players in the domain. Besides all the engineering good stuff we have solid leadership, reliable teammates, and amazing work culture, few places like this.

Cons

As with any startup, there's a level of uncertainty you need to tolerate.

Pros

- A focused, experienced, diverse and international team across offices in San Mateo, Singapore and London - Sophisticated software development, testing and CI processes - Building a truly unique product with a big focus on interesting new technologies including large scale cloud processing and machine learning applied to 3D data and geometry - Environment of empowering individuals to do great work - A start up with a great idea and the people, resources and backing to make it happen - Invests in training for their staff (courses and conferences) - Clear and differentiating company values that were developed by the staff themselves

Cons

- Singapore and London offices inevitably mean some early/late meetings - The usual negative trappings of a 'real' startup (ie. not an environment for someone who isn't comfortable with change) - Decent coffee shop is at least 3 blocks away :)
