I worked at HCL Technologies for 2.6 years in the Chennai branch. During my tenure, I noticed a strong bias towards employees in the Noida office. Our team managers were both based in Noida, and as a result, resources and support were often prioritized for Noida employees, while Chennai-based employees, including fresher hires and mid-level staff, were often overlooked. I experienced this bias firsthand when I applied for a master’s program abroad. Despite planning my notice period carefully, my request did not receive managerial support. Within 9 days of submitting my resignation, I was terminated, leaving me with an unplanned career gap. In comparison, a junior colleague with less experience at the same time was allowed to serve their full notice period. Additionally, during my tenure, I was placed on bench for over 8 months, which significantly affected my learning and career growth. I felt that management did not provide fair opportunities to employees outside the Noida office, and critical decisions were often influenced by location bias rather than performance
