Pros
The environment is fairly laid back and requires no dress code. You can wear jeans, sandals, leggings, shorts, t-shirts, sneakers, and whatever you want as long as it's appropriate. The workload isn't overwhelming and you generally have a set schedule of what to do every day. You can always rely on your co-workers if you have any questions or need assistance. Lunch breaks last an hour. The age demographic is open, with the majority being in their 20s-40s. Everyone gets along with each other quite well and you usually build a close camaraderie with your department. Sometimes there's free food/coffee and the occasional free t-shirt. The basic incentives are offered: health insurance, dental, the usual. In the happenstance that you die during your employment there, they'll pay about $10,000 to your beneficiary at no-cost to you. You'll gain experience about the products, how they're made, and sometimes have hands-on experience in the production process. The company is slowly growing, albeit at a snail's pace. While there is room for growth, the opportunities are very, very limited and seldom come with the appropriate compensation.
Cons
First and foremost: if you're a POC, this place isn't for you. In mid-2020 in the midst of social current events, they made a cringe-worthy attempt to hire as many Black temps as they could so they could be seen as diverse. To give you an idea: about 99% of the company at the time was predominately white (and still mostly is). The very few POC working there already weren't even treated that well in general, so for the company to go out of their way to hire solely Black temps raised a few eyebrows. More so, to hire them after they JUST laid off employees due to COVID (to cut labor costs) was very sketchy. Whether this action was solely for clout is something that you should take into consideration. A majority of the people working here have views and beliefs that are not favorable towards POC (upper management included). While freedom of speech is a right, hearing and seeing some of their opinions might make you feel uncomfortable. Pay increases are promised but never materialize. They've implemented a quarterly review where they make you fill out a form to describe your performance (how well do you think you're doing/rate yourself) and then go over it with you. They'll review it, butter you up with promises of moving up in the ladder with pay raises, but nothing ever comes to fruition. Most of the meetings are unproductive and repetitive. You end up wasting valuable work time for a meeting that could've been an email. Because the workload is almost schedule-like, it can be monotonous. The management is pure nepotism, especially the executive portion. They can be snarky and condescending at times. If you're close with the managers and rub shoulders with them, there's promise for you. However if you aren't, you always end up working harder or called out. Some past employees have gotten burnt out from the negativity and eventually were terminated or left. Your ideas become their "ideas" and they'll happily make a profit off of it. The main office is open-layout for all major departments. If you don't work in production or shipping, you'll work in a big open room alongside IT, the CSR department, order management, marketing, etc. Sometimes you'll hear the management of another department berate their employee across the room. The company loves boasting about how "we're all a family". If you can look aside the old boy network, mediocre management, and enjoy compensation in the form of pizza parties + kitschy inspirational t-shirts instead of pay raises----then this is the place for you.
