Pros

Most internships are known for their lack of quality in assignments and tends to turn into a file clerk position. Never have I felt that way here at HARMAN. Aside from having a great brand that I feel invested in, I was given real work experience and projects to complete. I was tasked with researching and putting together a PPT presentation for a global team meeting that will be used to improve current systems at HARMAN. Because I worked in HR, one of my projects involved developing and implementing a performance evaluation and exit survey for the other interns at the company. I feel very accomplished knowing that my work is value every day. The interns also were given a business problem at the beginning of the summer and were tasked to diagnose and provide solutions to the issue. These solutions were put together into a PPT and presented to the senior leaders from various teams around the company. This is the first year they had a real structured internship and it is going to get better with each year based on the data collected and planned improvements for the program. HARMAN has really shown a lot of investment in their future with treating the interns like real employees and giving them meaningful work experience. We also had a few outings as interns (i.e. a Yankee game) and had a fireside chat with CEO, Dinesh Paliwal. And every couple weeks we took part in Lunch and Learn sessions where we learned about relevant topics to career success and HARMAN provided us lunch for the day. I would recommend this internship or job to anyone seeking engaging work at a rapidly growing tech company.

Cons

I do not share any views on any downside to working at HARMAN. It is a great place to work and with some really great people.
