Pros

Lots of helpful little incentives, such as free lunch, free gym access, vouchers for Amazon, Starbucks, Greggs, etc.; super friendly colleagues and direct management was also pretty great! KPI's and targets are the same for everyone, but they're discussed in private so there isn't really any competition or rivalry, everyone's supportive. Diversity and inclusivity seems really good to me, although I am a white, able-bodied woman, so better to ask someone more marginalised. Every once in a while, there's also team building days or events which involve a super-chill, no commitment sports day, food stalls, etc. on site and are great for socialising and bonding. There are certain guidelines to what compensation you can offer to a customer if they're having issues, but within those guidelines, you can bend them to suit your own style and achieve good customer satisfaction. Personalisation is highly encouraged. Targets are easily manageable as long as you know what you're doing. Annual pay increase hasn't been in line with inflation in 2022, but I'm still considering the pay increase a pro because it was still much better than what other companies offered. Overall, I believe this is one of the highest paying jobs for an entry level customer support position.

Cons

No room for discussions/negotiations about pay or bonuses, no matter how well you perform. All decisions are made over your head and they're final. Company also went from flexible, individual hybrid/WFH structure to "you have to come in 3 days a week now" because they spent too much money on a second office building 5 minutes down the road. Both of these things have led to high quality staff leaving the company for greener pastures. Lately, have started outsourcing more in Asian countries, which has led to lay-offs in both the UK and American offices and caused some job insecurity. Agency workers from Asia also don't get the same pay and are penalised more than actual Gymshark employees, which has left a bitter taste in my mouth, knowing the company is working with an agency that doesn't treat their staff that well. Bonuses are only paid out if the company achieves their overall targets, it's not based on individual performance, so it sort of discourages from trying your best and leads to a lot of bare-minimum performances. The company will talk about increasing profits in quarterly/annual meetings, but still not pay bonuses if not all targets are achieved, which feels a bit like a slap in the face. There isn't a lot of room for moving up the career ladder; new jobs are posted both internally and externally and candidates are given the same opportunity, it's just less paperwork if you're internal.

Pros

Gymshark really sticks to its core values. The people are awesome and great to work with. Excellent work-life balance.

Cons

As a UK-based company, working in the United States is tough sometimes. We often get information late from our UK partners. The company definitely needs to build out its US office more and add more vital job functions.
