Too much vision, not enough doing - Anonymous employee Gust Employee Review

Pros

The company offers a fun atmosphere with a lot of camaraderie. Traveling available depending on your role, employees become pretty close with one another. CEO David S. Rose is always looking to further educate employees. Monday morning breakfast and Wednesday afternoon lunch is catered, and other food and snacks brought in weekly.

Cons

Upper management needs to do a better job of having a stricter environment to actually accomplish what they are setting out to do. Lack of urgency leads to missed deadlines by months, client relationships are strained and not enough communication among departments. Not enough cross department collaboration and not enough involvement with customer feedback. Focus seems to be too much on future offerings and not on keeping the current customer base.

Since this review was written a year and a half ago, we've made a concerted effort to improve our organizational structure and operational efficiency. We've overhauled the way we develop product, empowered smaller teams working more closely with our end users, and made sure that our larger vision inspires—rather than obstructs—our near term deliverables. The result has been a significant change in the velocity of our development, substantial improvement in customer satisfaction, and great employee retention (not to mention a second year on the Crain's "100 Best Places to Work in New York" list.) At this point, the general feeling is that our deliverables are almost as good as our culture :-)
