Pros

I've never worked with a better group of people; both co-workers and management. Everyone is honest, hard-working, and they help each other out. Work is moderately paced. Pay is currently good for the area. Flexible work hours and time off.

Cons

Benefits are terrible now that NextEra has purchased Gulf from Southern Co. 401k match is less than it was with Southern, no more 2 week parental leave for fathers, no more carrying over vacation (can carry 40 hours AFTER at least 80 hours are used, so for someone like me who only get's 80 hours, I can't carry over any vacation), less sick leave is given out (only 56 hours a year compared to Southern's 80 hours). Heath insurance deductible went from $750 (family) with Southern to $5,000 (family) with NextEra. There is no movement within the departments. So once you get a job, you're stuck with it.

Pros

It was a good paying job and you were treated well. The management staff took the time to listen to any concerns and were quick to respond.

Cons

Having to walk over 10 miles a day under all weather conditions. You were often challenged with areas that made you feel uncomfortable and unsafe as well as animals that had potential to harm. There were some Saturdays when it was mandatory to work. This proved difficult when completing a college degree.
