Management does not take Responsibility - Medical Coding Specialist/Coder II Guidehouse Insights Employee Review

Pros

Flexible Schedule, Remote Work, All Equipment provided by company, Paid onboarding/Training/Orientation. Somewhat Flexible Schedule - Meaning you get to pick your own schedule but must stick to those hours weekly.

Cons

No Wiggle Room in the Flexible Schedule once set. If something comes up, then tend to not like that you take time off and will ask that you make that time up instead of allowing you to use PTO or Sick Time. Work/Life balance was not balanced. PTO and Sick Time was very minimal. No Bonus for anyone other than supervisors/managers = nothing for Coders. Raises came in at 1% each year. Management is not there for the Coders, They are there to make sure you get the work done so they get their Bonus each year. Benefits are expensive. Health Insurance cost me alone $547 per month with a $4700 deductible. I was better of being Self Pay! Company gives very little towards HSA/FSA. Company puts in very little towards 401K

Pros

They offer billed time for guidehouse online required learning. My handler was really nice and contacted me even after I left.

Cons

Not much interactions with the company, but that is like most contracting companies.

Pros

Many interesting exciting client side projects. Every project, manager, client, coworker on the client side was great. Flexible work schedule. Just stay client side. First day working internally, guy i replaced spent hours couching me on how to leave GH as working internally under certain teams is not where anyone with motivation could survive.

Cons

Salary and career growth is more related to politics and customer service than delivering value. Internal work from manager was mostly trying to avoid valuable work and responsibilities for team while stressing performative value-less box checking activities that culminated in something unusable so manager could look good. This would not have existed client side but internally its the culture.
