Grover Gaming Response
10yGrover Gaming would like to respond with some answers and facts to the above review.
1. Greenville, NC is not just a college town. Greenville has many thriving industries outside of the college, such as Vident Medical Center which is the largest employer in Eastern North Carolina, and 20th over all in the state. A quick search will return many results for thriving industries in the area such as the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industries.
2. "Greenville has a population of ~ 90,000" this is also false. Greenville-Pitt County is centrally situated to serve the largest concentration of population and industry in eastern North Carolina (more than 812,000 people within 45 miles).
3. There are many things to do in Greenville, NC. Here's a quick video to show you some of the activities available to residents https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo2cuA25rok
4. There are many areas of activities close to Greenville outside of Raleigh and Charlotte, NC. Greenville is situated 87 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean, and is also 157 miles from Richmond Virginia.
5. The statement that the cost of living in Greenville, NC is higher than Raleigh or Charlotte is simply false. Greenville is actually rated in the top 10% of Best Small places for Business and Careers (Source:Forbes.com July 2015)
6. The recruiting is not aimed at college graduates. As a matter of fact Grover has not hired a fresh college graduate in over two years. The only people Grover hires without professional experience is in the Quality Assurance department where they allow students to work part-time and learn on the job for a career after they graduate.
7. Everybody that works here is passionate about what they do and strives to truly innovate and put in the work necessary to make that happen. No one is expected to work 45-50 hours a week, although many people do because they want to improve themselves and the products they're working on.
8. Some people take pride in when they clock-in and clock-out, showing up on time, taking reasonable lunches, and putting in extra hours is accounted for and rewarded by management. If you were consistently late, took unreasonable lunch time, and always left early, we could see how you would have a problem with management tracking your hours. There isn't anyone here who sits around video monitoring employees, any technology business working in highly regulated gaming markets is going to have a comprehensive security system.
9. The company name being an inside joke by calling the employees nerds is also false. The name Grover Gaming came from the word Grow. Growing people as individuals and professionals. Then the art team proposed some logo ideas, the first of which was actually a dog. They choose the current logo to symbolize the fun tech environment they wanted to create. The original dog logo drawings are in the art room if anyone would like to look.
