Pros
I've had a wonderful experience working at Group14. Its a smaller company with a culture is very much focused on keeping employees happy. Group14’s approach to management is a “flat pyramid” structure of engineers with varying levels of experience and skill sets rather than a hierarchical structure. Junior staff are mentored rather than managed. Training is conducted primarily through giving staff ownership over their work early on, allowing them to become part of the business rather than just an employee. Consequently, there is very little turnover in staff. A few pros: - Management pays special attention to keeping the workload manageable, and there is help if your projects get really busy. - Group14 recognizes that employees aren't going to work there there whole lives, and emphasizes career development and professional training. - The company encourages you to take time off, and discourages employees working late or on weekends to prevent burnout. - Lots of company events, including an annual retreat for your whole family!
Cons
Not many, but when I switched roles at the company I could have benefited from more formal training beyond just learning as I go.
