Pros

It is available for anyone

Cons

I wish I could leave a more positive review, but I can only speak to my personal experience and the facts as I know them. At the time of writing this review, Griswold Home Care owes me $231 in unpaid compensation. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have had to repeatedly follow up regarding money owed to me, but it will be the last. More than two months have passed without payment, and I have not received a courtesy call, meaningful update, or satisfactory resolution regarding the outstanding balance. My experience with the office staff has also been disappointing. When Rachel was part of the team in 2021, there was a noticeable level of professionalism, compassion, and appreciation for caregivers. Since then, there appears to have been significant staff turnover, and my interactions with the office have felt increasingly unprofessional and dismissive toward contractors. One of the most concerning issues has been the lack of transparency when disputes or conflicts arise. In my experience, communication between the office, clients, and caregivers has not always been consistent. Rather than facilitating productive conversations and working toward a fair resolution, information has sometimes been presented differently to different parties, creating confusion and making it difficult to resolve concerns effectively. I am also aware of at least three other caregivers, all independent business owners, who have experienced similar payment issues. We have discussed our experiences on multiple occasions and have encountered the same pattern: delayed payments, unanswered calls, limited communication, and a tendency to place responsibility back on the caregiver when compensation has not been received. No contractor should have to repeatedly pursue payment for services that have already been provided. It is important to remember that caregivers working through these contracts are not employees. We are independent contractors operating our own businesses. We are responsible for our own taxes, transportation, insurance, supplies, and other business-related expenses. Every hour worked represents both a financial investment and a personal commitment to the clients we serve. Many caregivers generously volunteer their time within their communities, but contracted work is not volunteer work. When services have been provided, payment should be made according to the agreement. Delayed or unpaid compensation not only creates financial hardship, but also represents valuable time and effort that can never be recovered. Caregivers are the backbone of this industry. We show up for clients during some of the most challenging moments of their lives, and we deserve professionalism, respect, clear communication, and timely compensation in return. I am sharing this review to provide an honest account of my experience and to encourage greater accountability, transparency, communication, and respect for the caregivers whose dedication helps make these services possible. 1
