Pros

I truly believe that the products and services we provide help people around the world. Most of the staff level personnel are great to work with and for. There are lots of people with 10+ years of experience going back to the Novartis Diagnostics and even Chiron days. Decent benefits including a 401k match and insurance.

Cons

Way below average pay made worse by a wage freeze in 2021 and likely again in 2022. There has been a slow exodus of people across multiple groups over the last 4 or 5 years and upper management has been unwilling to provide backfill or has shipped the positions off to Spain where they can get the same position for 70c on the dollar. As a result you sometimes have teams of 1 or 2 people remaining that are trying to do the work of a 5 or 6 person group. Corporate decisions are TERRIBLY non transparent and non timely. People from Emeryville and across the US are now being let go if they do not relocate. Many are long term employees with great performance track records. Virtual meetings to discuss this relo are NOT recorded so HR can always deny something promised in these meetings was ever discussed. Barcelona calls all the shots and you will never ascend to the top ranks of the company if you are not Catalan or a "friend of the family". Several recent high profile upper management hires seems like good people but do not have the qualifications for their role, but they have the "right" last name.

Pros

Good for phlebotomy experience Meet interesting people Learn to keep plates spinning Good health benefits, but not enough to outweigh the health impacts Learn working in a high-stress fast-paced work environment

Cons

Have to unlearn working in a high-stress fast-paced work environment High school drama and toxicity, management is the prom king/queen Cliquey dramatic management team Reneged agreements Playing favorites, rules for thee but not for me Private employee info gets spread, often by those who are relied upon to keep it private No work life balance or boundaries, and it's an admitted and perpetually unaddressed fault Have to be made to feel guilty for wanting to leave production, get a break, or go to the bathroom High turnover "Is everyone else working as hard as I am?",-Everyone, and eventually you
