Pros

Satisfying work - you're helping make products that have a tremendous positive impact on patients. Overall, coworkers are smart, highly motivated, and very pleasant people. (Note - this review is based on much experience with the company in North Carolina, and some in California).

Cons

Decisions are made in Spain, often without consulting with executives or managers in the USA. This results in chaos and eventual backpedaling when decisions are announced. The company does NOT treat its USA employees with respect. At the same time as the global CEO was touting how the company had increased salaries (presumably in Spain, although that was not stated), compensation for between a third and a half of the USA workforce was cut, mostly through reductions to bonus targets and eliminating company paid short term disability. As the company continues to trim some parts of its workforce after the acquisition of Talecris, they are circumventing the severance plan and instead dismissing uneeded people by making up performance issues and terminating for cause (hard to know the extent of this, but I know of several cases where long-term, well respected employees were pushed out in this manner). In some parts of the company, not surprisingly, stress levels are very high, and morale poor. Some people have had health issues related to stress.

Pros

Good for phlebotomy experience Meet interesting people Learn to keep plates spinning Good health benefits, but not enough to outweigh the health impacts Learn working in a high-stress fast-paced work environment

Cons

Have to unlearn working in a high-stress fast-paced work environment High school drama and toxicity, management is the prom king/queen Cliquey dramatic management team Reneged agreements Playing favorites, rules for thee but not for me Private employee info gets spread, often by those who are relied upon to keep it private No work life balance or boundaries, and it's an admitted and perpetually unaddressed fault Have to be made to feel guilty for wanting to leave production, get a break, or go to the bathroom High turnover "Is everyone else working as hard as I am?",-Everyone, and eventually you
