Pros
Many companies these days pay lip service to the idea of work/life balance. Greenpearl puts its money where its mouth is, rewarding effort with a great deal of generosity and flexibility. Management's easygoing approach emanates from the top levels, providing an atmosphere that inspires me to contribute my best work to what is truly a team effort. It's a place where I can wear jeans and a t-shirt to work, where the receptionist dressed up as Princess Leia for Halloween along with a manager in full Darth Vader regalia, where strong quarterly results were recently celebrated with a puppy party, and Pi Day (March 14) showcased the pie-making talents of many of my co-workers. The company also offers excellent health care benefits and a generous base salary plus commissions.
I have a lengthy work history and have worked in several industries, but it has been a long road to finally finding a company that is both nimble enough to accommodate my need for flexibility and fully appreciative of what I can contribute. Furthermore, in a few places where I worked in the past, the concept of teamwork was merely a cover for backstabbing and petty maneuvering. Greenpearl is the opposite -- I've found my co-workers here, without exception, to be extremely helpful and friendly, and I've learned a lot from them (not just about pie-making and March Madness!). In short, Greenpearl lives up to its name in being that rare thing, a truly great place to work.
Cons
Sometimes my section of the office gets a little noisy, which means I have to work a bit harder to concentrate. But I wouldn't trade the amount of light in my area for a quieter but darker space.
