Pros

On its face, ending hunger is a good and noble cause

Cons

Good intentions can only carry a company so far: An initial COVID windfall was mismanaged by a very inexperienced executive team. When I started it was apparent that everyone here can talk the talk. Like a lot of startups, they know what to say and know how to sell "the mission". After about a month it became pretty apparent that no one could walk the walk. Most of the department heads knew how to do their jobs in theory, but they all fell short in execution and management. Sales and operations quickly outpaced technological growth, because that is what was seen as important. Quite quickly the competent employees burnt-out. Some of us stayed for the sake of "the mission" but as talent left, those who could "talk the talk" remained. Worse, those who capitulated to an inexperienced executives whims rose to the top. This only snowballed, anyone with the knowledge or guts to malign themselves with the CEO "just wasn't a good culture fit" and left, or more commonly was asked to leave. There is now no one left willing to tell the emperor that she wears no clothes. More importantly, I do not believe they have the capital to rehire the talent needed to survive. Although I have been gone for sometime now, I hear that this pattern has not changed, and leadership consists of a CEO and a couple of sock puppets. I hesitate to leave this review, because ultimately this company will likely not see the end of the year, but I've heard they might be hiring soon. I can't in good conscious let that happen without saying my piece, otherwise the next bright eyes kid that gets trapped there is my responsibility.

Pros

In theory, it is nice to work for a company that is doing some good (when it actually works).

Cons

There is a reason the entire Operations department quit within a year. This company is a mess! There is no real organization and none of the senior leadership knows what they are doing. They are actively running this company into the ground. Working with the CEO is like walking on eggshells. You never know what version of her may lash out at you at any given time. There is a reason they can't seem to hold on to employees. I can only speak from the Operations standpoint, but I will add that I consistently heard the sales people complain about late and/or missing commissions as well.
