Pros

not much beyond a paycheck

Cons

-Treats experienced staff with little regard -Old, crappy, and unreliable gas detection equipment (which is exactly what you don't want when trying to detect flammable vapors) -They had a support staff who treated the actual geologists like morons -Geotech will treat you like garbage rental equpiment if you aren't in the owner's "cool kid" club. -Doesn't care that you have a life or family that you have to see sometimes This company is a joke and can't provide a fraction of the services they boast on their website. They treated me like garbage and said i would have a say so in operations. When my suggestions ended up having a price tag of a few grand to make 10s of thousands, the owner cheaped out and shoved me to the side and embraced cheap, shoddy, and unreliable solutions. i wouldn't hire this company as a person who actually moved up to dealing with subcontractors. I have been asked if this was a good company to hire by colleagues and i always say "No, this company treats geologists like garbage and the equipment is to the same standard. Get someone else or hire a drunk monkey to do the work, he can't do any worse than geotech."

Pros

Good learning experience for a young geologist. Opportunity to see how rig operations are ran. Comparable starting salary to other logging companies.

Cons

Not much time off. Shifts can be upward of 40 days, so be prepared for that. Some equipment is outdated and has problems.

Pros

day rate starts at 245, nice logs with color makes it easier for customer to see, some of the programs they have created are user friendly

Cons

The company is located in mobile homes on the owner/president's land next to his house which makes it difficult to find, can be slow on getting you set up to go to work, no base pay/salary so if you're not working you're not making any money, jobs vary from 3 days to 10-14 all the way up to 30 days or more at a time so no set schedule,
