Pros

management is understanding to personal issues flexible work hours very knowledgeable co-workers sense of pride widely recognized university diverse faculty/staff/students open to telecommuting

Cons

underpaid - Due to the state budget reductions, there have been no raises between 2008-2011 (and 2012 doesn't look good) have to change departments to get promoted have to pay to park on campus very limited training budget some management is "old school" as far as "if you are working from home, you aren't working"

Pros

- Free Housing - Meal Plan - One of the better on campus job for students in my opinion (still able to be involved in other activities as a student on campus)

Cons

- Duty part of the job (Being on call and getting late night lock outs but this is rare), and definitely can still do homework in between doing duty rounds - experience can also depend on your hall director / area (but regardless still served on great RA teams, can be great if you have a co-ra but also been good at time being a single RA on the floor (no need to coordinate schedule if you do events together as a single RA unless you alternate events with your co)
