Love the school, but as a GRA it is stressful and your advisor makes or breaks you. - Graduate Research Assistant Georgia Tech Employee Review

Pros

You have a lot of resources at you disposal and many leaders in your field that will help. Atlanta has a lot of things to spend free time doing.

Cons

Very long hours depending on your research advisor. Funding is variable year to year. So job security is not a definite, especially in the current economy (2012).

Pros

Great Research Environment, with multiple opportunities for collaboration. A great place overall for grad school!

Cons

Can be a bit competitive at times, but really depends on the lab / advisor you work with

Pros

- Free Housing - Meal Plan - One of the better on campus job for students in my opinion (still able to be involved in other activities as a student on campus)

Cons

- Duty part of the job (Being on call and getting late night lock outs but this is rare), and definitely can still do homework in between doing duty rounds - experience can also depend on your hall director / area (but regardless still served on great RA teams, can be great if you have a co-ra but also been good at time being a single RA on the floor (no need to coordinate schedule if you do events together as a single RA unless you alternate events with your co)
