Good people, some dysfunction - Anonymous employee Georgetown University Employee Review

Pros

Many supervisors are supportive and generally good people. People stay a long time. Great benefits. The stress isn't too bad.

Cons

Money is tight (maybe because the Medical Center keeps losing money?). Annual salary increases don't even match inflation. They tried to do away with raises completely a little while back, but caved after a big uproar. Some administrative offices are dysfunctional, either because they're understaffed or because their underpaid employees don't care.

Pros

Job security throughout budget cuts happening in the public health industry currently. Plenty of PTO and holiday paid leave.

Cons

Constant threats by upper management to "write us up/disciplinary action" for anything. Director is really unfair/disrespectful/condescending to our supervisor and so that trickles down to data coordinators. For example currently there is a threat that we will be "written up" if we do not meet all the competing deadlines. Ive seen sooo people many come and go in this sector over the past 3 years its insane. Its alot of data to manually enter and one must be organized /driven and on top of your game but it gets borring if your not passionate about the cancer trials you are working on.
