Pros
Comprehensive benefit package. Recognition of need for work-life balance. And amazingly, a very decent group of people overall. Also, career development opportunites are widely available-however, certification and training won't necessarily get you promoted-see below for details.
Cons
Hard to get promoted-seems to be based on who you know rather than what you can do. It appeared to me that folks were typecast and it was hard to move out of the role in which you were cast.. It really helps to be a country club golf/tennis type-that seems to be where many of the promotions are determined. Also, from an IT perspective it can be a bit of nightmare, as the company was built by acquisition. Accordingly, GNW is lousy with legacy systems that can't talk to each other.
