Pros

I enjoy the breadth of experience I get at Genus. I am exposed to all levels of the company. The company is friendly and cares about the employees. They have a structured and objective review process in place.

Cons

Because Genus is a smaller company, the structure is flatter, so there are less structured career paths in place. That being said, they look for opportunities to stretch and develop their people.

Pros

People are so kind at this company and it really feels like everyone is a family when working here. Staff events are fun for all ages, the hybrid office setup allows for flexibility in working habits and management is relatively transparent with expectations and plans.

Cons

Can be hectic at times, due to the relatively small company size many roles are expected to take on significantly more than one jobs share of work, with heightened workload during the winter months.

Pros

One of the few independent money managers in Vancouver. They have a lot of staff given their size of firm, which does allow for frequent hiring opportunities. Work-life balance is reasonable, along health benefits.

Cons

High turnover of employees at both junior and senior levels. Relatively low wages. Over all I had a very negative experience. Too many layers of management given it is a relatively small organization. A culture that defines itself as being competitive without focusing on results or how to achieve results.
