Pros

Gentex provides great safety equipment for military and emergency response men and women. Paycheck arrived twice a month without fail. Working a 9/80 schedule and having every other Friday off!

Cons

Sadly, many of the company reviews I have read on Glassdoor are accurate. The place has great potential for success, but terrible execution. I knew this before I accepted my position and figured I could inspire change. Boy was I wrong! Company morale is low and employee turnover is endemic. Politics take precedence over the truth. There is no accountability. Gentex has poor short and long term planning. Project goals are unachievable from inception. Goals are made in a managerial vacuum, without stakeholder input. Gentex has a subjective annual employee review that relies on the manager's recollection of everybody’s endeavors for the past year.

Thank you for your candid review of our company. We are sorry your experience with us is less than stellar and we will use this feedback to get better. As you know, we are always working to improve everything we do, be it from the products we create to the overall experience our employees take part in. And while we are far from perfect, we are making some positive gains in ensuring our employees feel valued and engaged. We recently implemented a new strategic planning process, which is aimed at helping us get focused on priorities. We also instituted a new incentive plan and annual performance review process for our employees, with the goal of properly and objectively evaluating achievements. We encourage our employees to speak directly to their manager or supervisor with any concerns or ideas. Forums like this also contribute to our quality improvement efforts. Thank you again for your feedback.

Pros

* Decent hourly pay (for now) * Decent time off policy * Some great co-workers * Decent Quarterly Bonus for Hourly workers * Nice Health Insurance options with ways to reduce weekly deductions * Life insurance Policy (bare minimum but has one) * Occasional overtime work

Cons

* With current cost of living crisis. The current hourly wage may not be enough in the next couple of years * Progressive company * Hard to move up in company, more external hiring over internal * Dysfunctional leadership for the building I worked at * Possible gender bias, noticeable increase of women moving up the company * Building I worked at is known for high turnover. Because of it, burnout occurs because of mandatory 6 - 7 (8 hours) day work weeks. * A lot of finger pointing/blaming others when something goes wrong
