Pros

• Meaningful mission and interesting area of work • Some smart and supportive colleagues • Good work life balance

Cons

• Heavy bureaucracy slows everything down • Decision making can be painfully slow and unclear • Poor leadership and weak communication from management • Career progression feels limited, Internal promotion system feels unclear, with progression not always appearing to be based on merit or transparent criteria • Innovation is often talked about more than actually enabled • Too much internal process and politics gets in the way of doing good work • Culture can feel inconsistent across teams, depending heavily on your manager • Feedback and concerns do not always seem to lead to meaningful change

Pros

Highly mission led, everyone is working hard to make a positive difference through the work

Cons

Certain members of leadership make unilateral decisions that negatively impact staff and staff morale. After what can be years of inaction despite regular feedback and attempted to address issues, things come to a head and roles/entire teams are reassigned or made redundant without any real consideration or discussion, often with other, directly affected, leaders blindsided after the fact by decisions they might otherwise have challenged. Bullying is a serious problem and bullies/their behaviours are not dealt with. Targets of bullying and harassment often end up punished themselves, or put in a position where they feel they have to tread on eggshells and cover their behinds at all times, which is incredibly stressful and affects performance and morale.

Pros

General work from home ethos - they say two days a month in the office so generally it is really beneficial to work-life balance. The office in London is quite a nice modern office even if it is a pain to get to. There is an effective drive to utilise AI as a enhancement to your ability to carry out your job, not automating entire jobs. Generous annual leave at 30 days per year although this is slowly becoming standard across peers Access to an EV scheme

Cons

Salaries are average. They make a big deal about the pension being a double-match up to 5% doubled to 10%. However they do not contribute the employers NI saving to your pension as others do so the different isn't as great anymore and in fact is now overtaken by many other employers. They follow the 'spotify model' with squads , tribes, chapters and an otherwise fairly flat structure. What this means in practice is everyone is entitled to put blockers in the way of progress. There is a lot of noise, red tape and distractions. This model doesn't actually provide any tangible benefits to the company, only downsides, This also means that there is little scope to progress into any other role. No healthcare provision. In some ways this is understandable because of the companies proximity to the NHS but this is a major hole in the benefits. Technology in certain areas is the cheapest they can possibly purchase
