Pros

Quarterly “fun budget” for purchasing food or entertainment for the store team. Great HR manager who is very responsive. Pay is decent only if you’re in a leadership position. Employee discount is decent. Most other store managers and employees are easy to get along with.

Cons

Terrible pay for hourly employees, most hourly employees need a second job to pay the bills because $12 an hour doesn’t pay rent and feed people. Absolute lack of accountability in those in administrative roles, will threaten to come to your store and scare tactic you into being quiet when asking for accountability for those responsible for downfalls in your store due to their actions. No room for growth unless the person above you gets fired. Not much natural job openings or opportunities. You’re lucky if a job position is open to applying for even internally as they just expect the next person in line to willingly hop into the role. Or they will pre-select a successor for a role before firing the current employee in that position. Health benefits aren’t great. No long term investment options given. No 401k. No Roth. Nothing for setting people up for a responsible financial future. Which is quite sad for a company that tries to pride itself in caring for its people. The majority of employees are under 30 so I would think they’d want to atleast educate them on the importance of setting themselves up financially for the future. If you’re in a management position, you are salaried close to $19 an hour, but no overtime for when you have to work 50-60 hour weeks. If you come up with a great idea to improve any processes or make the company more money, and ask for it to be implemented company wide, you will be laughed at and treated like an idiot no matter how much data and proof of concept you have. If you ask for accountability in people being terrible at their jobs, you get told you’re a bully and need to stop. But if I can’t properly do my job because of someone else screwing up theirs, I’m not a bully for asking for it to get fixed. They pump everyone in hourly positions full of kool-ade that they care about everyone, but as my previous cons show, they don’t. The best raise they can give employees that are far exceeding expectations is $0.25. Really makes them feel valued to get $16 extra dollars per paycheck. If you like to suck up to the bosses and play dumb when things are your fault, you can make a career out of this place. If you try to run a store like an actual business. You’ll get fired when you ask why other store managers get to get away with doing nothing all day. If you have inventory numbers >%99 accuracy, and double the revenue of your store, you might get a raise at the end of the year that makes up for the rise in inflation. No company wide bonuses because of certain administrative departments wasting money all year on things that never get implemented or used. You’ll be lucky if your immediate boss has more than a GED. Lack of professional development for those in leadership positions. There was some when I started, but not much now. If you genuinely care about your future, go get a job at a place that doesn’t pride itself in feeding peoples addictions. They have a massive list of core values, but don’t follow them.
