Pros

Flexible hours because CEO and higher level employees weren't there half the time. Starting salary was fair, had health insurance

Cons

Working here was an absolute nightmare, they do not do anything correctly and management does not know how to run a nonprofit. No donations were entered correctly, there was not communication between admin and teachers, unreal expectations were set by the CEO, and weird hush-hush decisions were made about how to spend money. Money that comes in is not being correctly accounted for and donors are never properly acknowledged based on ethical fundraising practices. Staff turnover is insanely high for a reason, and the fundraising dept. is constantly changing due to a hostile work environment. Nothing was ever clear, no proper onboarding was done, and no exit interview was conducted. Completely uninvolved Board of Directors. Diversity is shown in the teaching staff, but not the administrative staff. Clear division of class and race between lower paying and higher paying positions.

Pros

The cause is good, the people working there really care about the issues, and the results are visible and often fruitful, particularly regarding the youngest children involved in their programs.

Cons

There is a serious hierarchy that dominates the work culture and leads to tension, employee dissatisfaction, and an inability to properly communicate with all parties
