Pros

People on direct and supporting teams, schedule, PTO

Cons

Upper management are out of touch but make decisions that impact you, processes are horrendous, they are routinely not followed by departments we support, processes routinely change every few weeks, most timelines are unrealistic to go through processes anyway, nothing is simplified, nothing is automated, nothing is organized, nothing changes for the better regarding process problems despite the many process changes which adds to the frustration, there are many conflicting ways to do the same job dependent on location you support or person performing the role, ruled by bureaucracy/ competing priorities rather than vision. The overall effect of all that is your time and energy are disposable, and part of your job is to accept the soul killing nature of the business. Not a good place to work if you care and are not just punching the clock then checking out.

Pros

GD-MS seems to win *ALOT* of proposals and contracts. There is always the next big thing at GD-MS.

Cons

Contractors 411: Typically, contracts terminated with no notice. Today will be your last day. Please wrap up your work. It was a very low-rate contract too. Made alot of sacrifices to be on this program. Culture resembled a human wood-chipper ala FARGO. Many senior engineers leaving en-mass. I was asked to take over the role of the engineer who left just prior to my arrival. I called it: I will be next. Good experience once in your life to go thru the human wood-chipper. Toughens you up. However, GD-MS is a great example of how it is that legacy aerospace companies are dying rapidly and startups will be the future in aerospace.
